The personality questionnaire

No clock, no right answers, and why answering honestly genuinely is the best strategy.

Last updated 20 September 2026

The personality questionnaire describes you rather than scoring you. It is the one part of an assessment where there is no correct answer.

What the personality questionnaire looks like

A statement about you, and five options running from strong disagreement to strong agreement. You pick the one that fits. There are a lot of statements, and each one takes a second or two.

There is no clock

It is not timed. There is no deadline on the screen and nothing to race. Take as long as you like, though your first reaction is usually the most accurate.

Answer as you are

This is not encouragement to be modest. It is the practical advice.

  • The statements approach the same traits from several angles, so an answer given to look good in one place tends to contradict an answer given elsewhere.
  • Describing someone you are not is how people end up in roles that do not suit them, which serves neither you nor the employer.
  • There is no universally good profile. Employers use this to understand how you work, and different roles suit different people.

Using the middle option

Use it when it is true, and not as a way of avoiding the question. A questionnaire answered entirely in the middle says very little about you, which is its own kind of unhelpful result.

What the employer sees

A description of your working style. It is presented as a profile rather than a mark out of ten, and it sits alongside whatever else was in your assessment.

If you are asked to take it again

Answering consistently is easy if you answered honestly the first time, which is another practical reason to.
