The test will not load

Work through these in order. Most cases are an extension, a locked-down work laptop or a stale page.

If a timed test has already started, the clock is running while you fix this. Work through the list quickly, and if you cannot get in within a few minutes, stop and contact us rather than burning the whole limit.

Try these in order

  1. Reload the page. Genuinely the most common fix.
  2. Try a different browser. Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari all work. If one fails and another works, the problem was the first browser's settings.
  3. Turn off extensions, particularly ad blockers, script blockers and privacy extensions. These block the parts of the page that load the questions. An incognito or private window usually disables them, which makes it a fast test.
  4. Try a different device or network. A phone on mobile data is a good check: if that works, the problem is your computer or your network.

If you are on a work or college computer

This is the other common cause. Managed laptops and school or office networks often block scripts from sites they do not recognise, and the test needs those to run.

If you can, use a personal device instead. It is usually faster than getting an IT policy changed.

If none of that works

Email support@testcandidates.com and include:

  • Which test you were trying to start.
  • What you see. A blank page, a spinning loader, an error message. The exact words of any message help a lot.
  • Your browser and device. For example, Chrome on a Windows laptop.
  • Whether a timed test had already started.

A screenshot is worth more than a description if you can take one.

If the clock ran down while you were stuck

Say so explicitly when you contact us. We can confirm what happened from our side, and the employer can then decide whether to let you sit that test again. That decision is theirs rather than ours. See can you take an assessment again?.
